05 Sep Revolutionizing Elder Care: Tribeca Care’s Collaborative Venture with IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation India
In a remarkable move aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its members, faculty, and their dependents, the IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tribeca Care Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata. The signing ceremony took place post the Executive Committee meeting held in Bhubaneswar on 20 August 2023. This collaborative initiative seeks to provide comprehensive elder care services to address the unique needs of the elderly members of the IIT Kharagpur community.
The Signatories
The MoU was officially inked by key representatives from both organizations. Mr. Rajah Venkataraman, President of the IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation, and Mr. Pankaj K. Singh, Vice President, along with Mr. Siddhartha Roychowdhury, General Secretary, represented the alumni foundation. On the other side, Mr. Jayant Sen, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Tribeca Care Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata, put pen to paper, sealing this significant partnership.
A Thoughtful Selection Process
The decision to collaborate with Tribeca Care Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata was not made in haste. Rather, it followed a meticulous evaluation process that began with an expression of interest. After evaluating proposals from various agencies, the selection committee shortlisted eight potential partners. Tribeca Care Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata emerged as the ideal choice to fulfill the foundation’s vision of providing top-tier elder care services.
Comprehensive Care for All
Under this collaboration, the elder care services will encompass three major areas:
1. Geriatric Care and Emergency Management
The first pillar of this service is dedicated to geriatric care, ensuring the well-being of elderly members. It also includes emergency management to address unforeseen health crises effectively.
2. Care for Chronic Ailments and Post-Hospitalization Care
Members facing chronic health conditions will benefit from specialized care, including post-hospitalization support. This aspect of the service is designed to offer comprehensive health solutions.
3. General Wellbeing, Home, and Logistics Care
The third component covers general wellbeing, offering support to lead a fulfilling life. It includes services that enhance the quality of life, such as home care and logistical assistance.
One of the standout features of this collaboration is that these services will be available in the comfort of the members’ homes. This approach aims to empower elderly individuals to live happily, actively, and independently.
A Pilot Project with Expansive Ambitions
While this innovative service is set to make a significant impact, its availability is initially limited to Kolkata and Bhubaneswar. The IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation plans to launch a pilot project in these cities, leveraging the active support of local chapters. The success of this pilot program will pave the way for the expansion of similar facilities to other cities across India.
To make these services accessible to a wide range of members, the basic package is priced at an affordable Rs. 25,500 per annum.
A Noble Cause
Speaking on this momentous occasion, Mr. Rajah Venkataraman emphasized the pressing need for such services. He highlighted that a significant portion of the alumni community, especially those who graduated in the 1950s and 60s, are now over 70 years old. Additionally, many alumni who completed their education after the 1980s find themselves responsible for aging parents and dependents.
With many of these elderly individuals living away from their children, this has become a major social concern. The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic further underscored the importance of addressing these issues. Mr. Venkataraman expressed his satisfaction with the team’s efforts and their commitment to extending this initiative to a PAN-Indian level if required.
In response to the collaboration, Mr. Jayant Sen, COO of Tribeca Care Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata, expressed his delight at being associated with the esteemed IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation. He pledged to do everything in his power to meet the aspirations and expectations of the alumni members, emphasizing the importance of this journey.
Distinguished Presence
The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Damodar Acharya, Chairman of SIKSHA ‘O’ ANUSANDHAN University and former Director of IIT Kharagpur. The event also drew the participation of various dignitaries and office bearers from different Alumni Chapters.
A Vision Steered by Alumni
The driving force behind this ambitious project is alumnus Dr. Partha Pratim Mitra (PPM), who leads the initiative with the support of local chapters. His dedication and vision for improving the lives of elderly members of the IIT Kharagpur community have played a pivotal role in making this collaboration a reality.
In conclusion, the IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation’s partnership with Tribeca Care Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata marks a significant step forward in addressing the unique needs of elderly members and their dependents. This initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to enhancing the well-being and quality of life for its esteemed members, ensuring they lead happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
